The brother of popular Atlanta music producer Drumma Boy has died in a shooting outside the man’s clothing boutique in northwest Atlanta, according to Atlanta police.
Drumma Boy confirmed the death on Instagram Sunday.
“I lost the first person I ever looked up (to) in life,” he said, “the first person I ever wanted to be like...my big blood-brother.”
Atlanta police officers responding to a person shot call arrived to the 1700 block of Howell Mill Road, where the boutique is located, just before 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Officer Lisa Bender said.
They found Ferrell Miles, 48, of Atlanta, injured with a shotgun on him, authorities said.
It is unclear why he had the shotgun or if he fired at the shooter.
“Witnesses reported that the decedent and another unknown male were engaged in a heated verbal dispute outside the location which escalated into gunfire,” Officer Lisa Bender said.
The shooter sped away from the scene in a black sedan.
The shotgun was taken from Miles before emergency response workers could attempt life-saving measures, Bender said.
He was then taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, Bender said.
“Homicide responded and interviewed several witnesses,” Bender said.
Anyone with any information on the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
