An 8-year-old girl was shot Tuesday morning during gunfire between two groups in DeKalb County, Channel 2 Action News reported.
The incident began about 9 a.m. in the 3000 block of Clifton Church Road, police said, when a group of teens in a car started chasing another group of teens in a white vehicle.
The white car crashed into a black car, police said. The first group of teens kept firing, and the girl, who was inside the black car, was hit in the buttocks.
The people involved in the shooting left the scene.
“They fled on foot back into one of the neighborhoods,” police spokesman Lt. Lonzy Robertson said, “and we do have officers in the area.”
Police think the incident may be tied to car thefts.
“We’ve had some situations of some stolen vehicles in this area,” Robertson said.
