A man is in jail in connection with the death of an 11-week-old infant in Bartow County last year.

Jerry Bagley, 21, faces charges of murder and cruelty to children in the first degree, Bartow sheriff’s Sgt. Jonathan Rogers said.

Bagley’s relationship to the infant was not released.

According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, deputies and investigators responded to a home on Cedar Creek Road in April 2017 to investigate after a baby was found in cardiac arrest. The child was taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta for treatment but died four days later, authorities said.

Autopsy results by the GBI revealed a craniocerebral trauma caused the child’s death and it was the result of a homicide, according to the GBI.

Bagley was arrested just after midnight Sunday. He is being held at the Bartow County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
