Marietta police are trying to piece together a deadly double shooting.

Officers found two people with critical injuries in a car outside an Exxon gas station about 10:44 p.m. Thursday, police Officer Brittany Wallace said Friday.

They were taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, where the passenger died. The driver was released from the hospital Friday.

“We are still unable to positively identify the driver and the deceased,” Wallace said.

Both are in their mid-30s, she said.

Although the victims were found outside the gas station in the 2300 block of Delk Road, police do not know where they were shot.

“The location/jurisdiction of the shooting has yet to be determined and is still under investigation,” Wallace said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Funes at 770-794-5369 or an anonymous tip line at 770-794-6990.
