The Georgia Sheriffs' Association has asked the governor to launch an immediate investigation into the arrest of DeKalb County's sheriff for exposing himself and then fleeing a law enforcement officer.
In a letter sent Tuesday, the sheriffs’ organization requested that Gov. Nathan Deal appoint a committee that would report their findings within 30 days. Pursuant to Georgia code, that committee would be composed of two sheriffs and the attorney general.

Depending on their findings, Mann could be suspended for a period of up to 90 days, at which point DeKalb’s chief superior court judge would appoint an interim sheriff, according to Terry Norris, executive director of the sheriffs’ association.
Gov.Deal on Wednesday said his office has received the letter and was considering the request.
“As you know there, is a procedure that can be followed in the event that it becomes necessary to appoint a panel to review and make recommendations,” he said. “But we have not gotten to that stage of it yet.”
Mann is charged with indecency and obstruction, both misdemeanors. His attorney labeled the weekend arrest a “personal matter” and said the sheriff has no plans to step down.
