One person was killed when a small plane crashed in Gordon County on Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

Police said the plane crashed near a neighborhood near

Spenser Drive just before 4 p.m. after taking off from an airport in Calhoun.

The pilot killed in the crash has not been identified and it’s unclear where the plane was headed.

Investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration were heading to the crash site, Channel 2 Action News reported.
