A medical emergency triggered Thursday’s deadly multivehicle crash on Flat Shoals Road in South Fulton, police said.

A man in his 40s lost control of his vehicle due to the unknown medical episode, causing him to hit several other vehicles, police said. He was dead when police arrived.

All other drivers and passengers involved in the crash were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

The wreck occurred at the I-85 overpass about 10 a.m.

According to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center, the road has been cleared.

No other details about the crash or the victim have been released.
