The following images are pieces by renowned artist Helga Weissova-Hoskova, who was 12 when she was sent to Terezin. She was a bunkmate of Ilse. Limited to bringing only one suitcase, Weissova-Hoskova filled it with watercolors, crayons and pencils, and she made her limited art supplies last her entire time at Terezin – almost three years. After the war, Weissova-Hoskova became a professional artist, and her drawings are known throughout the world. This work is called "Arrival to Terezin." Every person was allowed 50 kilograms of luggage. Here, people of all ages and families arrive. They had no idea what really awaited them. Some, particularly the elderly, were duped into thinking they were going to a resort or spa.
