First Lady Sandra Deal shows details of a bronze clock in Family Sitting Room at The Governor's Mansion on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015. The most unique aspect of this room is the paneling; it is butternut (a type of hickory). The rug is a French Savonnerie made in Austria (1890). First Lady Sandra Deal, along with two history professors at Kennesaw State University, wrote the book "Memories of the Mansion - The Story of Georgia's Governor's Mansion." They worked closely with the former first families (Maddox, Carter, Busbee, Harris, Miller, Barnes, Perdue, and Deal) to capture behind-the-scenes anecdotes of what life was like in the state's most public house.
