It only took him 65 hours and over 1,000 gummy bears, but an Orlando-based Star Wars fan has done it: created a life-sized Darth Vader helmet made of gummy bears.

The artist, who goes by the nickname Crummy Gummy, has coated the creation in polyurethane to protect the soft candies, making them last and deterring any insects.

Crummy Gummy first created a wearable Gladiator helmet more than a year ago, but decided to switch gears, saying, "I'm a huge Star Wars fan and when the new movie was announced I wanted to create something 'Star Wars'-related."

The artist noted that Darth Gummy was created to be displayed at the Wyn317 gallery in Miami. Regarding his choice of colors, the artist noted, "I only used the red and orange ones; I had to properly dispose of the other colors by eating them."

The candy "Star Wars" masterpiece will now be on tour in galleries across America.

"The gummy Gladiator looks great and I still display it at gallery shows. I just don't put it by direct sunlight as no good comes from that," the artist noted.

The sweet head piece, painstakingly, took over a month to create.
