Yes, you read that correctly.
According to WhatNowAtlanta, a 7.69-acre parcel of land near Historic Downtown East Point will become home to 40 houses between 250 and 700 square feet.
The project is called Eco Cottages at East Point. The website bills it as a "new tiny house neighborhood of sustainable eco-cottages, where you instantly become part of a diverse community of like-minded people."
The neighborhood is located a few blocks from MARTA. It will focus on “sustainable structures, new urbanism and micro agrihood.” The developers write on their website that they hope the small houses will encourage more community interactions as well as smaller environmental footprints.
Other neighborhood perks include a community garden, houses customized to your needs, walking paths, a bike bath, fire pit and yoga area. The houses will also be close to several restaurants, Woodward Academy, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and several other businesses.
Tiny houses have become more popular in Georgia over the last few years. They're not the easiest things to live in, though, as there's a lot to remember before moving in. When you break down tiny houses by the numbers, there's a lot of hidden costs. Even when you think you know what to expect, living in a tiny house teaches residents unexpected lessons.
