When it comes to million-dollar home sales, the city of Atlanta this year ranks in the top 5 percent — but it’s far short of the leaders.

The city this year has had 118 sales of homes in at least seven figures, putting it 17th out of 384 cities on the list, according to a report from Redfin, a national real estate brokerage based in Seattle.

Number one on the list was San Francisco with 792 sales of homes for more than a million bucks. Number two was Los Angeles with 775 and San Jose – the center of Silicon Valley – checked in at number three with 378 such sales.

Atlanta’s million-dollar homes averaged $1.59 million, Redfin said.

Only three Georgia cities made the list.

Alpharetta checked in at 259th place with a dozen million-dollar sales. Marietta was 282nd with ten sales in seven figures or more.
